• The confocal florescent microscope makes it possible to analyze the properties of light-emitting thin films, of organic material, and of tissue samples, as well as to identify sub-celular structures, with or without markers. The Microscope has four lasers which excites/energizes/ stimulates the sample along the following wavelengths: 405 nm, 488 nm, 555 nm, and 639 nm.

    Confocal microscopy is a technique that is used to increase the contrast of the microscopic image and to construct three-dimensional images by using an orifice (final de pg 3 original) that can be opened/ a shutter opening? (orifício de abertura). This makes it possible to obtain very high-resolution images in samples that are thicker than the focal plane.
